Biography

Maurice Elias Loher was born in the Swiss town of Muri (Aargau) in the year 2000. His earliest childhood memories revolve around drawing and painting. At the age of 15 years, Maurice was diagnosed with lymphoma.

The period in his youth spanning the treatment and removal of this cancer was a pivotal moment for his work and disposition to life. His attic became a limitless space for experimentation with his own mixed media techniques. Maurice never formally studied art.

The visual narrative of Maurice holds one universal rule at its center. That is the rule of continually evolving. His paintings originate in cycles. Each piece being in exchange with the viewer and thematically appearing in a series. Like songs on a concept album, the paintings keep shifting meaning and appearance over their lifetimes.

Maurice currently resides and works in his hometown.
